Once when I tried to wash Bunji in the bathroom, he ran around the wall like a bicycle racer and ran away. So I thought about why cats think baths are scary! ︎
THE Bathroom ~This is how it looks to cats~
A mysterious small room that is labeled as a waterboarding room.
Closed space with no escape
too bright lighting
no place to hide
too deep water tank
Hot water (?)
fierce waterfall basin
soaking wet hair
Whole body covered in chemical bubbles
Intense sound of water (They have big ears so it sounds very loud)
``OMG, what a horrible thing...I wonder if you'll be able to survive this.'' The cat’s heart is pounding.
Now that I think about it, I remember my first class when I was a first grader in elementary school, to the children too scared to go into the pool, the first class started with them holding their face in a washbowl for five seconds. "You did it. Let's try it for 10 seconds next time!"
"I can't breathe...I'm scared of water...My face gets wet...Water gets in my ears...I don't like it, but I get compliments..."
Suddenly remembering this, I brought a costume case with some warm water, Aabout 3cm deep , into the living room and placed it in front of Bunji.
"Bun, let's play in the water."
"Nyah?what’s next?”

一度ブンジを風呂場で洗おうとしたら、競輪選手のように、壁を一周走って、そのまま逃走した。 そこでワタシは、なぜ猫は、風呂を恐ろしいものととらえているのか考えてみた‼︎

水責めの部屋と書いてある中の見えない謎の小部屋
逃げ場のない閉鎖空間
明る過ぎる照明
隠れる場所がない
深すぎる水槽
熱湯(？)
激しい滝つぼ
ずぶぬれの毛
体じゅう薬品の泡まみれ
激しい水音(耳が大きいので爆音に聞こえる)
「うわああなんておそろしいことを…あんなことして、しんでしまわないのかにゃあ。」ドキドキバクバク
そう言えば、プールに怖くて入れない小学一年生の最初の授業を思い出すと、たしか、洗面器に顔を5秒かぞえてつけるところから始めていた。「すごいね、できたね、次は10秒やってみようか！」
「息ができない…水こわい…顔がぬれる…耳に水が入る…いやだなぁ、でも褒められるなぁ…」
ふとそれを思い出したワタシは、居間に温かいお湯を少し入れた衣装ケースを持ってきて、ブンジの前に置いた。
「ブンちゃーん、水遊びしよー。」
「にゃんだ？またにゃんかこいつは…」
