There is something called solfege. I studied classical music theory. At my mother's behest, I took solfege lessons once a week from the age of six to the second year of junior high school.

As a result, the Saturday afternoons of my childhood were spent studying dull classical Western music theory.
I learned German scales and memorized, tested on musical terms like Italian, like “poco a poco.” If you had practiced it since you were a child, you would have easily passed the music college entrance exam. Yes, my mother wanted me to go to music college.

There was also some training like this. You listen to the four-bar phrase played by your teacher with your eyes closed, without looking at the teacher's hands, and write it down on a musical sheet. in other words, copy by ear.

ソルフェージュというものがある。クラシックの音楽理論を学ぶのである。これを母の命により、ピアノレッスンの開始と同時に6歳から中2まで週一回習っていた。
ピアノとソルフェはセットだから。
どちらか一個は選べないから。

これにより、ワタシの子供時代の土曜の午後は、鈍重な西洋音楽理論の学習に充てられることとなった。
ドイツ語の音階を習ったり、イタリア語のpoco a poco みたいな音楽用語を覚えさせられテストしたりする。子供の頃からやっておけば、音大受験の際にラクラク合格というわけである。そう、母はワタシに音大に行って欲しかったのである。

その中で、こんなトレーニングもあった。先生が弾いた4小節のフレーズを先生の手元を見ないで目をつぶって聴き、五線譜に書き取るという、つまり耳コピである。

これのおかげで、西洋音階の曲であれば、数回聴けば、ワタシは大体聞き取れるようになっていたのだ。
