I can't forget - those eyes

The tragedy of the poolside
Half of the students of 300 first-year students in my junior high school were bombed during the Tatemono-sokai, evacuation of the building around 1100 meters from the hypocenter. It was disastrous to see all those who were seriously burned and enter the pool, those who took the water from the broken tap and put it on their faces, and there were also people who poured water on the smoltering smoke from children’s backs, and half-naked female students on the lawn. Only the collar of their sailor uniform remained, and thanks to that, I was able to distinguish them as woman. When the dark dust subsided and the sun came back, in the distance, I could see Fukuya, a department store, and Chugoku Newspaper company, and flames burst out from those windows all at once.

The skeleton of soldiers who was underlayed and burned (in the Hiroshima First Army Hospital)
On August 10, my aunt asked me to see the state of her house near the hypocenter.
And I pass by Hiroshima First Army Hospital on the way. Then, there were officers who were exposed to the hospital room without knowing that the atomic bomb had fallen, and lay on the bed as skeletons.

At the riverside that was evacuated after being bombed
The 11th Regiment Infantry was evacuating. They were trying to evacuate to the East Training Ground, but they came to the riverside because the bridge was burning. A father of former medic was giving the soldiers water from a kettle that he was running away with. On the opposite shore, shrines and food distribution centers were on fire. The officer with a bandage on his face was standing up with sword on the ground, and the guard kept asking, "Sir, sir, please sit down," but he didn't listen, "I'm fine with this."

Mom, wait!
On August 7, on the way from Ujina to Hiroshima Station with my mother looking for my grandmother, I came across a burnt corpse lying on the street. The corpse was sticking out his/her left hand to the sky, and the eyes were wide open and staring at the sky. We could not pass because there were full of bodies lying on roads. So my mother put her hands together to the burned corpse and said, "Please let me pass." After saying that, she crossed it. However, I was 6, the burned corpse was too big to stride over. Then, my mother told me to "go through the thin parts(neck or feet)."

"It was delicious...thank you..."
On August 6, about an hour after the atomic bomb was dropped, four or five hundred people gathered at the large ground of Hiroshima University at that time in Senda-cho. People who have been burned all over their body and their burned white skin has become largely slipped off, people who have been hollowed their meat by the rubble with the blast, people who are stunned by despair, and do not move while sitting, etc. When Mr. Shintaku came back here, he noticed that a child around 3 years old was still breathing under the camphor tree. The child asked for water, so I went to the water for fire prevention. However, there wasn't a single drop of water left in the firewater, so he had no choice but to let the muddy water from the sludge soak into the hem of his clothes and give it to the child with all his strength. Ta. After the child had finished drinking that small glass of muddy water, he said, ``It was delicious, thank you...'' and died peacefully in Mr. Shintaku's arms.

Hiroshima - Rising Soul -
Two days after the atomic bomb was dropped, my father, who was weakened by the atomic bombing, died, and the cremation was carried out on the beach of the night sea. I kept watching so that the fire wouldn't go out.As I watched, I saw several pale fireballs rising from the flames during the cremation, and I thought that a fireball was the soul of a person.

Oh! It's ghosts!
When I ran to the field to get tomatoes for my father, a line of ghosts was marching in front of me. I ran away, but when I thought about it later, it was ash-covered Hibakusha, A-bombed victims who walked with their peeled arm skin, drooping it from their arms stretched forward.
