The appearance of my friend who was playing with me in that morning

The scene where I met a friend who was playing with me in the morning at a temple in Furuichi where I was evacuated. I heard that this friend died a few days later. With a difference of a few minutes, the situation was different and it became a fork in life.

朝一緒に遊んでいた友達の姿

朝一緒に遊んでいた友達と避難先の古市のお寺で会った場面。この友達は、二、三日後に死亡したと聞いた。数分の違いで被爆状況が異なり生命の分かれ道となった。

"In the black rain" In order to escape from the fire caused by the atomic bomb, I was taken by a neighbor's woman and fled to the other side of the river. It started black raining, and I covered my head from the rain with the tin the lady got me.  (Teramoto Takashi)

黒い雨の中

原爆によって起きた火事から逃れるため、近所のおばさんに連れれられて川の向こうまで逃げた。黒い雨が降ってきて、おばさんが持って来てくれたトタンで雨をしのいだ。

A friend who has changed.

The scene where I was reunited with my friend in the river. Her face was so burnt that I didn't know who she was at first. "Can you tell what's going on with my face?" she asked while crying.

変わり果てた友人

川の中で友人と再会した場面。顔が分からないくらい焼けただれていて、「私の顔、どうなっている。」と泣きながら聞いてきた。

Shock, anger, and sadness

I was bombed during Tatemono-sokai, (the destruction of the wooden buildings by middle school children) in Tsurumi-cho district, and immediately after that, my consciousness recovered and I stood up. ( Miyoko Matsubara)
